Vision Update: It’s Time to Build the House of Prayer!

The following is an update from pastor Jake:

As a church family, we have launched into a deeper focus on prayer. This is not just a season–something that comes and goes–but something that is being established in our very foundation.

When Jesus went into the temple and saw the corruption of what the house of God had become, He passionately drove out the money-changers and flipped over the tables of those buying and selling. The explanation for His zeal is found in the next verse:

And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” (Matthew 21:13)

God’s House is a House of Prayer

God defines His house as a house of prayer. This means that we are either a praying church, or we are not the house of God! It is not a matter of preference, tradition, church background, or denomination. The church is God’s house, and so we must conform to His pattern.

We want to be a dwelling place of God on earth. We want to see the Holy Spirit move among us, and empower us to do the works of Jesus. We want to encounter the glory of God in our midst. We want to see the kingdom of darkness pushed back and the kingdom of God established. We want to know Jesus more, and for others to come to know Him.

Because of these things, we must be a praying church! Being a house of prayer does not mean that prayer is the only thing we do. But it does mean that prayer is primary, central, and foundational to all that we do.

This is not a new focus; in the past we have taken initial steps to be a praying church. But now it is time to go all in!

Prayer Gatherings

One of the ways that we become the house of prayer that God is calling us to be, is to intentionally gather together to pray. There are several prayer gatherings happening throughout the week, and more will be added as time goes on. Our goal is for there to eventually be a Threshold prayer gathering every day of the week.

I encourage you to get involved and make it a priority to gather together to pray! (Here is a list of the current prayer gatherings: Threshold Prayer Gatherings)

Let’s respond to the call of God to be praying individuals, praying families, and a praying church!
