Choosing Thankfulness
The following is a word of encouragement from Anna Kail:
“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him and bless His name.”
-Psalm 100:4

We have the privilege of choosing thanksgiving. It is a choice for our hearts, minds, and lips.
It is a choice that goes against our flesh and lifts our eyes up and out of our circumstances and sets them on Him.
Because we can choose to be thankful, we are not at the mercy of what is going on around us, we simply choose thanksgiving because He is worthy, He is always worthy.

Romans 1:21 says, “because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.” (emphasis added)
They knew God, but were not thankful and it opened them up to futile thoughts and foolish hearts which if you read on, led to much oppression and darkness.
Thankfulness is a catalyst. If we are thankful we are propelled forward into the things of His kingdom. A thankful heart is fertile soil for love, joy, peace, and contentment.
If we are not thankful, we are propelled forward into a downward spiral of self-pity, hopelessness, and darkness.

Thankfulness. May we choose it not only today, but everyday.
May we allow our thankful hearts to lead us into greater worship of our King.
