Abiding in God’s Love
The following is a teaching article by Chris Kauffman:
Paul declared that God’s love was limitless, unsearchable, and beyond knowing and prayed that we would be empowered by the Holy Spirit to fully grasp God’s love! (See Ephesians 3:16-20). How else could we fulfill the law of love? How else could we love God with all of our being?
Jesus declared that God loves us the same as He loved Jesus. We must abide in this love. (John 15:9)
ABIDE in love; abide in the Vine of love. This is the key to everything!
Look, we haven’t experienced the fullness of God’s love. Only Jesus did and He was the only one able to express it. That’s why everyone was healed and blessed that came to Him!
We need to stop considering God’s AGAPE love like our understanding of love. When I say that I love my children and wife, but have gotten impatient and snapped at them, I wasn’t ACTIVELY loving them. But, God is ALWAYS actively loving us.
No matter what we are doing (when I was mean to my family) God was STILL actively loving me. If only I had stopped and thanked God for loving me in that moment.
That’s what it means to “abide in Jesus’ love!” RECOGNIZE that you are always being actively loved by God. When we stop actively loving someone it is because we have stopped recognizing and receiving God’s love. If we would only pause, acknowledge, and receive God’s love, we would be able to love as He loves.
Abiding in God’s love is the only way to fulfill the only “LAW” of the New Covenant. “Abide in me, apart from me you can do nothing…remain in my love” (John 15) Love is the root because God is love, and love is also the fruit! “Whoever abides in love abides in God because God is love.” ~ (1 John 4:16)
The fruit of the Spirit IS LOVE! ~ (Gal. 5)
The only way to bear fruit is to be actively receiving the lifeblood of the Vine which is love!
I know the Lord has spoken this to my heart ~ “Beloved, Be loved and BE love.”
Nothing else matters because without love everything else profits nothing. What matters is faith working through love. Love, the perfect bond of unity. Love…the glory of God.
