A Fresh Call to Prayer

The following is a word of encouragement from Jake Kail:

Over the past few months the Lord has been stirring my heart with a fresh call to prayer. Early in my relationship with God, He impressed upon me the necessity of prayer, in both private and corporate settings. Recently, this call has been intensifying.

A few weeks ago, we launched a sermon series called The Praying Church. If you missed any of the messages so far, I encourage you to listen by clicking the links below:

God Wants His House Back!

The Holy Spirit and Prayer

God’s House is a House of Prayer

I believe with all of my heart that God is calling Threshold to establish prayer into our foundation. He wants us to be a praying church. One of the primary descriptions of the house of God comes from Matthew 21:13: “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer.” If we want to be the house of God—the place that God dwells on earth—then we must be a people of prayer!

Prayer is a top priority for the church. The apostle Paul put it this way: “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made” (1 Timothy 2:1). Notice he said that first of all we must pray.

Let this be a season where you awaken afresh to pursuing the Lord, and are called back to your first love. Dive into prayer in the secret place alone with God. If you are married, pray together with your spouse like never before. And join together with our church body as we call on God in a fresh way. We are now meeting for pre-service prayer at 9:30 AM every Sunday morning, and I encourage as many as can come to this to do so.

Prophetic Confirmations

I have been very encouraged at how the Lord has worked these past few weeks as we launched into this renewed focus on prayer. Many have affirmed a great sense of anticipation as we have stepped into this season. Peoples’ hearts are being stirred and awakened in new ways, and our times of prayer together have been powerful!

This past Sunday, several people shared with me prophetic visions that they had during our times of prayer. One saw a man-made dam that was hindering a river from flowing. As we prayed and cried out to God, the dam was broken through and the river brought life to the other side. Another person saw our prayers being recorded in heaven and then laid into the foundation of a building, which represented the church. Other similar pictures and words were given.

Let’s heed the call of what the Spirit is saying to the church! If we will follow His direction to be a praying people, I have no doubt that He will lead us into this next season and move in fresh ways.
